Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accommodate dietary requirements?
The Dessert Room is a curated tasting experience, so each edition has a fixed menu. We’ll always clearly indicate any dietary options that are available for a particular evening, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee substitutions or accommodate every allergy or dietary requirement. If you have a serious allergy, please contact us before booking so we can advise you.
Can the drink pairings be substituted?
Each pairing is selected to complement the dessert it accompanies and forms part of the tasting experience. Guests choose either the alcoholic or zero-proof pairing when booking. Once that choice has been made, it cannot be changed later.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the event are eligible for a refund or transfer, subject to availability. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are non-refundable.
What is the dress code?
Attire is upscale casual chic. Dress for the occasion: stylish, well-presented, and comfortable. Collared shirts are recommended, and athletic apparel is not permitted.
Is The Dessert Room accessible?
The Dessert Room takes place upstairs at Café Paloma. Because access is via stairs, the space is not fully wheelchair accessible. If you have mobility concerns or specific access needs, please contact us before booking so we can advise you as clearly as possible.
Can I take photos or video during the evening?
Personal photography and short videos are welcome, provided they do not disrupt the experience or other guests. Professional or commercial photography and filming require prior permission.
The Dessert Room may photograph or film during events for use on its website, social media, press, and promotional materials. By attending, guests acknowledge that photography or filming may take place. If you prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please let a member of the team know on arrival and we will make reasonable efforts to respect your request.
How long does the experience last?
The Dessert Room lasts approximately two hours. Guests are seated at 19:30, with the first dessert served shortly afterward, and the evening generally concludes around 21:30.
Can we arrive early or stay after the event?
Yes. Guests may extend the evening with our optional pre-Dessert Room light dinner and after-drinks package, both available when booking.
The light dinner is served before the tasting begins, while the after-drinks package allows guests to stay on after the final dessert for a cocktail, specialty coffee, or pot of tea.
Both options should be reserved on the booking form in advance so we can prepare accordingly.
Can I come to The Dessert Room on my own?
Absolutely. Solo guests are very welcome. The Dessert Room is designed to feel social and intimate, and the shared-table format makes it easy to enjoy the evening whether you come alone, as a couple, or with friends.
Are children welcome?
The Dessert Room is designed as an evening experience for adults. Older teenagers are welcome when accompanied by an adult, but the format, pacing, and drink pairings are not designed with young children in mind.
Can I book The Dessert Room for a private group or celebration?
Yes. Private bookings and special celebrations may be possible, depending on the date, group size, and format you have in mind.
If you’re planning a birthday, team evening, or other private occasion, contact us at info@dessertroom.nl and we’ll let you know what can be arranged.
What happens if I’m late?
Because The Dessert Room is a timed, three-course tasting experience, we strongly recommend arriving on time. If you’re running late, please contact us as soon as possible.
We’ll do our best to accommodate late arrivals, but we cannot guarantee that missed courses or pairings can be served once the evening is underway.
How do I know what’s being served?
Each edition features a changing three-course dessert menu with pairings, created in collaboration with different chefs and restaurants. On the evening itself, guests can scan the QR code at the table to view the complete menu, including the desserts, pairings, chefs, and participating restaurants.
